17. When will the polls be open?

A. The polls will be open Tuesday, May 2, 2006 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Q. Who can vote in the May 2, 2006 election?

A. All registered voters, ages 18 and older, who reside in the Kalamazoo Public School District may vote in the election. This includes city and township residents in the district.

Q. What is on the ballot?

A. Projects included in this bond are: a new elementary school on 9^th Street, a new middle school on a site to be determined, facility and classroom improvements, remodeling and/or additions to 25 buildings, technology infrastructure and equipment, equipping and furnishing buildings and purchasing busses and land. Northglade will benefit from much needed improvements in classrooms (i.e. new doors, carpet, sink/counter and cabinet areas). Other areas include new playground, restrooms, public address and video monitoring systems, and equipment.

Q. What kind of cost will this mean for the average homeowner?

A. For a family whose home is valued at $100,000 ($50,000 taxable value), an increase of 1.15 mills will cost approximately $57.50 per year, or roughly 15 cents per day.
